BackgroundRailroad operates 345 miles of track, headquartered in Grande Prairie, AB. Line was formed as Alberta RailNet in June 1999 to purchase former CN trackage from Swan Landing to Grande Prairie, Hythe, Spirit River and Glavin. Line was renamed Savage Alberta Railway after purchase by Savage Industries in 2005, and was added to ORER listings at that time. On December 1, 2006, CN purchased the SAR, although it continued as a separate listing in the ORER until 7/2007 when their cars were transferred to the CN listing.
