Canadian National Railways (1918-present)

Background

CN was created in late 1918 from the merger of a number of insolvent and government-controlled railways, the most significant members being: Canadian Government Railways (consitituting the former Canadian Northern and Intercolonial Railways) and the Grand Trunk Pacific. In 1923 their formation was completed with the addition of the Grand Trunk Railway.
